What is the connection between starting your own awards show like the Platinum PIAs and the process to grow your own audience?
Doing an awards show is a way of bringing people together, some who you already know as well as new people you meet.
It provides an opportunity to make a positive impact. Yianni Stamas, who is a video maker, media creator, and events producer founded the Platinum PIAs Community Awards Show NYC in 2010 and it ran annually in Manhattan until 2019.
The acronym PIA stands for “People I Admire”, and Yanni knew then and still knows a lot of people today who do things to help others that he admires.
When you launch your own personal process of starting to think about doing an awards show a place to begin might be to decide the community that your awards show is for.
For example, when Yanni was starting the Platinum PIAs, he concentrated on his local neighborhood of Inwood, Manhattan and the New York City communities as a whole.
This was because he knew people he admired and wanted to recognize them for their good work in his neighborhood and other NYC neighborhoods.
The last ceremony of the ten years of annual platinum Pia’s was in 2019. And now friends of Yianni’s who attended the PIAs as far back as the first one in 2010 are encouraging him to consider bringing the Platinum PIAs Community Awards Show
